Hollister, CA - June 5 - 18, 2026 - Carson & Rowan's Graduations

Image
We drove down to Hollister to help celebrate Grandson Carson's Graduation from High School and Granddaughter Rowan's Graduation from 8th Grade.  Kelly threw a great celebration party at the house with lots of friends and family in attendance. We also had a great time catching up with old friends Ralph & Sue Vance, a dinner in Tres Pinos, then snacks and margaritas by the pool. Got a chance to go watch Rowan take a riding lesson on her horse Willow - they are both learning a lot and have come a long way in the past year. Final stop in Sparks on the return trip to see Kendra and Ryan, nice dinner at one of our favorite places (Water Bar).

Wallowa Lake State Park, Joseph, Oregon - May 30 - June 2, 2026

2nd Annual trip to Wallowa Lake with Roger & Laurie Asay for Kokanee fishing.  Beautiful state park campground on the south end of Wallowa Lake.  This lake is home to record setting Kokanee (landlocked Sockeye Salmon). Wallowa Lake Tramway - a fun ride to the top of Mt. Howard.  Over 3700 foot vertical gain from the valley floor to the top - 8150' elevation.  Great hiking and view of the mountains and valley floor below.  A little cafe where we enjoyed a warm bowl of chowder or chili as the temp was right at freezing.   Panoramic view from the top We hired a fishing guide and boat for a day of fishing on the lake.  We each got a nice fish (Laurie's is the biggest at 23" long and about 5.5 pounds).  In addition we got 8 smaller fish (10-12"), including 1 rainbow trout. Susan lands the first fish. Laurie gets the biggest fish of the day

California, September 6 -20, 2025

Saturday, September 6, 2025  Heading to California to visit family.  First day was a nice drive to Roseville to visit Sister Darla and husband Tim.  We're staying nearby at a great Home2 Suites (by Hilton).  We went to Tim & Darla's house and sat on the patio by their pool and enjoyed the nice weather (finally).  A beautiful day!  After a couple of margaritas, we headed over to the Woodcreek Golf Club for salads - Legends has really good food. Sunday, September 7, 2025 We met up again with Tim and Darla and drove up into the Sierra Foothills to an area called Apple Hill - in the city of Camino.  The drive was beautiful as we went past Folsom Lake and wound up into the rolling foothills.  This area is covered in Apple orchards, and this time of year (after harvest) they all turn into fall-oriented family entertainment centers, with arts and crafts and apple-everything food.  We did 2 different "ranches" where we walked among the tall trees...
